About UHSM

Who we are

UHSM (Unite Health Share Ministries™) is a welcoming, family-centered health sharing ministry, committed to bringing wellness within reach for our members by promoting healthy, fulfilling lives, consistent with the moral grounding of the Christian faith.

We are glad you are here and grateful for the opportunity to empower those within our community to take control of their health journey. We are here to serve individuals and families willing to embrace healthy, positive standards of wellbeing consistent with the Christian faith.

UHSM is a nonprofit headquartered in Norfolk, VA, and is founded on the strong moral values of our belief system. Through our flagship program WeShare, healthcare by UHSM, we facilitate member-to-member health sharing, serving as an affordable alternative to traditional health insurance.

Our modern, proactive, preventative approach prioritizes holistic health and wellbeing. WeShare offers simple, fair, and consumer-friendly health share options to our members, who can enjoy the program’s benefits across all 50 American states.

What We Believe

We believe everyone has the right to seek improved health and wellness for themselves and their family at a reasonable cost, and we are passionate about the Christian purpose of caring for others.

WeShare® offers a way to accomplish both goals.

Our programs promote holistic living, supporting our members as they reduce risk of disease through positive eating habits, regular exercise, acceptance of faith and mental health awareness.

We are a proudly Christian family and a tight-knit community, united in our mission to assist one another with medical needs. Rooted in Christian values and principles, our members willingly participate in financial sharing to provide support during times of health-related challenges. This tradition unites individuals who share faith-driven values and priorities concerning their well-being and medical expenses. Within our community, members extend mutual aid, reinforcing our shared faith-based beliefs, and fostering a sense of togetherness.

The vision of this community is to provide education and encouragement to each other for healthy living and to hold each other accountable to a set of health and well-being standards that resonate with Christian principles. We welcome individuals who may not identify as Christians but who are comfortable with, and supportive of Christian values and beliefs, to join our program and contribute to our shared mission of helping each other’s medical needs.

Our Mission

The UHSM mission is to allow the strength of the WeShare® network to help families fulfill their faith-driven purpose to care for one another and to positively impact the communities around them.

UHSM provides the functional and technological framework for its members who have shareable medical expenses and matches them with members who voluntarily contribute to assist members in need.

Our nonprofit status means we are not answerable to shareholder demands for ever-increasing revenues, leading to an exceptional level of affordability and allowing us to bring wellness within reach for our members.

Who Our Members Are

UHSM is proud to serve as an inclusive community that welcomes individuals who have respect for the Christian faith’s beliefs. Because we embrace the principles of holistic wellbeing, WeShare® is designed to serve those who practice clean living.

To ensure the well-being of our members and uphold our commitment to promoting wellness and management of health share costs, we maintain the right to limit membership to individuals who engage in healthy behaviors. This includes refraining from alcohol and drug abuse, as well as other activities that do not align with our faith-based and healthy-living mission.

This allows us to keep program costs down for the entire membership and enables savings of up to 40 percent compared to traditional U.S. insurance policies.

Our platform uses an independent, third-party administrator to review medical information prior to accepting members.

To join our program, members first acknowledgment certain commitments, which include maintaining a healthy lifestyle, taking care of their overall wellbeing, and a willingness to support Christian beliefs and values.

Our members come from all walks of life, ages, ethnicities and regions of the United States. From young families early in their wellness journey to those nearing retirement, more than 2 million citizens and residents receive care from a health sharing ministry.

Health share programs are especially beneficial for those unable to receive coverage through employer-sponsored health insurance plans, who work as freelancers or are self-employed, and small business employees with limited health benefits access.

Additionally, those nearing retirement age who are looking for an affordable way to handle health care costs prior to Medicare eligibility may find our programs to be an especially good way to bring wellness within reach.

Our programs

Our programs are based around bringing together people with shared ethical and Christian beliefs, and supporting them on the path to healthy living and holistic wellness. We offer a variety of accessible, easy to understand options, that cater to each individual or family’s needs, backed by a suite of additional benefits at no extra cost.
